At harvest time in autumn, many wine taverns and festivals serve Federweißer – cloudy, still-fermenting grape must – with warm onion tart.
Federweißer is sweet and fizzy but already contains alcohol. It is only available for a few weeks a year and does not keep: a good reason to visit in September or October.
